The Lindauer DORNIER GmbH is an internationally established company in the field of mechanical and plant engineering with around 1,000 employees (including more than 65 trainees). Founded in 1950 by Peter Dornier, son of aviation pioneer Claude Dornier, the family-owned company is one of the world's technology leaders with its product lines of weaving machines, film stretching lines and composite systems.

The company's weaving machines produce highly sophisticated fabrics such as airbags, filters, finest silk fabrics, elaborate Jacquard articles and fabrics made of high-performance fibres such as carbon, glass and aramid. With its film stretching product line, DORNIER is market leader in engineering and production of film stretching lines for manufacturing ultra-thin plastic films. These are used, for example, for packaging food, pharmaceutical and care products; they also find application in solar cells, lithium-ion batteries, semiconductors, capacitors and smartphone displays.

In the composite systems division, DORNIER bundles its decades of experience in the design and construction of weaving machines and film stretching lines. Customized systems for the production of high-quality fiber composite components, complex 3D fabrics and unidirectional fiber tapes are created here.

All DORNIER machines and systems are manufactured at the production sites in Lindau and Esseratsweiler. The export share is over 90 %.
